Week 3: Clearer Skin, Calmer Gut
Wait…was I that bloated?
I didn’t realize how bloated I had been, until it started to go away.
Over the past few weeks, I’ve noticed my stomach isn’t as puffy, and even my face looks more sculpted and less inflamed. I’m also breaking out way less, and my skin just feels…clearer. After seeing my esthetician the other week (who happens to also be on a GLP-1 journey that I mentioned last week), we both laughed about how we didn’t know how puffy we were until things started shifting.
She reminded me how inflammation shows up on the skin, especially around the jawline and cheeks: congestion, puffiness, dullness, and those deep hormonal breakouts. We talked about how GLP-1 medications can actually help calm that inflammation, not just in the gut, but throughout the body, including the face.
The Science Behind the Glow
Michelle explained it this way: GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) medications work by improving insulin sensitivity and regulating blood sugar. When your glucose levels stop spiking and crashing, your body isn’t constantly reacting with inflammatory responses.
That means less systemic inflammation, better gut health, reduced water retention, and often clearer skin, especially in people whose breakouts are tied to metabolic or hormonal imbalances. It’s not a “skincare” product, but it is a root-level reset.
For me, I’ve also added VITAL C Hydrating Anti-Aging Serum to my daily routine after seeing my dermatologist, which could absolutely be playing a role too. But I think it’s the combo—inner and outer support—that’s making the difference.
And the scale? I’m down 3–4 pounds. Nothing extreme, and yes, my weight still fluctuates during the day (I sneak on the scale more than I probably should 🙃), but I’ve been tracking once a week, same time, and I’m proud of the progress. It’s a healthy start and more than the pounds, it’s how I feel that’s changing.
My face is brighter. My jeans, I’m squeezing in, but not comfortable enough to wear for dinner. I’m finally good in my body though!
More soon,
