Week 1: Why I Said Yes

I’ve always thought of myself as a pretty active person. I moved my body, took care of myself (for the most part), and try and do my best to stop and smell the roses. But somewhere along the way, under the weight of burnout, big life transitions, and emotional whiplash,I stopped feeling like me.
Life has been lifing.
Let’s rewind.
I left a toxic job last year that had been slowly draining my nervous system dry. In its place? Two new jobs (because I like a challenge, apparently). Add in the bliss and chaos of a brand-new amazingggg relationship, and my body just... shut down.
I gained 30 pounds, lost my energy, and started feeling like I was moving through molasses.
Brain fog. Skin flares. Sluggish everything.
And that “is this just who I am now?” kind of inflammation that no green juice can touch.
Meeting Michelle
That’s when I met Michelle at Extraordinary Wellness.
From the very first conversation, I could tell this wasn’t going to be a surface-level approach. She saw me, not just the weight, or the labs, or the symptoms, but the story behind it all.
When Michelle and I started talking about GLP-1 therapy, I was curious, but cautious.
Could it actually help me rebalance my metabolism and hormones...without becoming another “quick fix”?
Could I do this while still honoring my body: gently, respectfully, on my own terms?
The answer was yes. But with a twist.
This isn’t your average GLP-1 story.
This isn’t just about weight loss.
This is about:
Saying goodbye to shame
Tracking real-time changes (the good, the weird, the WTF)
Using functional medicine as the foundation, not a pill or shot as the shortcut
And maybe, finally, feeling like myself again
My Starting Protocol
So here’s what we’re doing:
GLP-1 Microdosing – Tirzepatide, half of the lowest dose
Instead of jumping to a high dose like most mainstream providers, Extraordinary Wellness’s approach is slow, steady, and supportive. Why? Because our goal isn’t just weight loss, it’s metabolic healing.
What I’ve learned so far is that tirzepatide works by:
Improving insulin sensitivity (better blood sugar control)
Calming cravings and regulating hunger cues
Reducing inflammation
Supporting a slower, more stable digestive rhythm so my body can burn fuel more efficiently
We’re easing in to allow my hormones to recalibrate, not shock them into submission.
My Food + Movement Plan
This isn’t just about the med. It’s about what supports the med.
Michelle gave me a foundational nutrition and lifestyle plan to pair with the medication:
30 grams of protein within an hour of waking
100–120 grams of protein per day
No artificial sweeteners
No fat-free foods (your hormones need fat to function!)
Intentional movement daily, even if it’s just a walk
I’m not tracking every calorie (I don’t have the time, and honestly, I don’t want to).
I’m tracking how I feel.
More energized?
More clear?
Less reactive?
I’ll be sharing it all.
So Here We Go.
Week 1. A little puffy, a little tired, but showing up anyway.
One dose in. One week in. One honest post at a time.
See you next week,
